The choice of such techniques and tools is highly crucial because using the wrong ones may lead to data alteration or data loss. However, data forensics is not without limitations. Forensic data is also quite vulnerable; they can easily be altered or overwritten, and it does not take much for criminals to get rid of the data completely to cover up the trail. Also, though alterations may sound minor at first, even the slightest alteration can change the meaning of criminal data and can lead to detrimental effects on the investigation. It is also important that the data is exactly what is needed, and that it should also be complete to be able to build strong evidence.
