What are Symptoms of a Dying Hard Drive?
We all know what it’s like to want to throw our computers against the wall and start over with a new hard drive. This is something that happens to all of us and there is a point of no return but if you know how to prevent the things that kill hard drives you will be able to avoid frustration, aggravation, and feelings of helplessness.
While the Internet is an amazing technological advancement that is still in its early stages and is growing at lightning speed, the threat that lingers over our computers grows just as fast. If you find instances that once took your computer seconds to achieve and are now taking minutes you can pretty much count on something being wrong. A computer is smart but does not think for itself. Anything that your computer does needs to be told what to do before it performs any action.
This being said, if you do find your computer lagging there is something that is causing it to run this way. With the growing annoyances of spyware, adware, and malware our computers are under constant attack from advertisers, marketers, and even thieves. These are the things that when not handled properly can destroy your hard drive and render it obsolete.
One of the primary ways of realizing what is happening is to investigate how well your computer operates when not on the Internet. Many people are quick to assume that when you can’t get online it is the ISP that is causing the issue. More times than not, this is not the case, and if you find your computer running slow just when you are accessing programs installed on your hard drive you know a problem exists that goes well beyond anything your ISP can do.
This is a sure fire sign that your computer has been infected by something that is not letting it run as it should. If you are seeing pop-ups that you are unfamiliar with or if your homepage has been changed these are also indicators that something is not right. If you notice any of these issues your hard drive will need to be inspected by someone that knows how to handle these problems because if you do not act on them, they will only get worse and could destroy your hard drive completely.
