Avoiding Spam Mail
Putting a stop to it is a necessary first step to avoid many other problems in the internet.
Avoiding Spam Mail
Have you tried receiving messages from unknown email senders who are trying to sell or asking you to subscribe to something? You could probably be one of the millions of people receiving these kinds of messages. Like all else, you could be a victim of spam. And putting a stop to it is a necessary first step to avoid many other problems in the internet.
How You Become Attractive to Spam
Spammers will begin sending you unwanted email messages as soon as:
- There is no anti spam or anti virus software which protects your email.
- You clicked on the attachment or link from unknown senders of email messages.
- The browser security level in your laptops or PCs is set to accept various controls and cookies.
- You opened an email message from someone you don’t know. The spammer can detect that your email account is real if you open their messages. From then on, they will continue to pollute your account with junk mails.
- Confirming to an agreement without reading can put you at risk for such mails. Be careful in subscribing newsletters since they can fill your emails with tons of messages.
- Your email address is displayed publicly online. You often post them on forums, websites, and many other pages visible to other people.
How to Avoid Spam
- Consider getting yourself two email accounts. Use one for your trusted contacts and the other for public communications.
- Cheat on spam spiders. Create your email addresses this way: office_to_go@domain.com. Robots cannot read this kind of address and will therefore not expose you to spammers.
- Carefully read the terms and conditions whenever creating an account or subscribing to a newsletter. This helps you avoid promotional offers sent by email. Also cancel your subscription to a newsletter if you wish to avoid receiving their updates.
- Never use auto-responders. This only signals the spammer that the mails he sent were received by a real email address, making him send more junk mails to your account.
- Do not click on attachments, images, or links from unknown mail senders.
- Set your browser security to avoid accepting 3rd party cookies.
- Use an anti spam software to guard your emails against unwanted messages.
How to Report Spam
Through spam blacklist, you can now report unwanted messages to the proper authorities. Send them the email address of the spammer and they will take the necessary steps to block this user.
