Tips against PDA Theft

Here are a few tips on how you could prevent PDA theft.

Tips against PDA Theft

Personal Digital Assistants (PDA) has been very helpful to corporate people, travelers, as well as students. With PDA, you could store personal and business information, email addresses, and other contact information. You could also browse the net, send email, play games, and store pictures. This is like a small computer on the palm of your hands. And because of the high demands for PDA, the price also increases. This also makes it vulnerable to theft. Here are a few tips on how you could prevent PDA theft:

Choose the places you go to

Although you would be limiting the use of your device if you only bring it with you in selected places, it would be more rewarding and safer than to bring it in crowded places where the risk of theft is high. At times when you won’t need much your PDA, you could just leave it at home. For example, you’re just going to buy some stuff at the marketplace or some public places; you can choose not to bring it with you.  This way, you could protect it from PDA theft.

Use Your Senses

Most of the times, our commonsense is our first line of defense against theft.  Never leave your things unattended at all times anywhere and everywhere. Even if you’re just at a restaurant eating, or in a car, always make sure not to leave your PDA. You’re never sure someone might just pick it up. Restaurants are never safe from thieves. Nowadays, it’s one of the favorite places of those who have malicious intent.

Mark your PDA with Permanent Etchings

At times, a permanent marking that is characterized and unique from all others could help you prevent PDA theft.  Knowing that your PDA could easily be identified from all others would make thieves think twice before doing anything extrinsic.  However, this would be a more radical measure because etching could void warranty.

Attach a Security Sticker

This may not be fashionable but attaching a security sticker at the back of the PDA is safer than nothing. There is an 800 number at the back of it, just in case another person could have it, they could verify the phone’s authenticity. Peeling the sticker would reveal a sign that says “Stolen property”.

Use the GPS technology

GPS technology, used in PDA, not only could be used in it’s basic of use, like tracking where your loved one’s are, but also tracking the PDA itself in case it’s stolen. You could subscribe to the GPS service for the protection of your PDA.  Just in case an incorrect password was typed, it would send a signal that authorities could track. This way, your PDA could be recovered.

These are time tested tips against PDA theft.
